The combined Material Handling offering includes rail handling and rail car cleaning solutions, ballast handling and placement solutions, and work platforms for enhanced productivity in a variety of maintenance operations. Loram’s solutions utilize powerful automation and handling technologies, high capacities and intelligent designs to provide a safer, more cost-effective way to handle railroad materials while drastically improving productivity and reducing operating and labor costs.

Remove excess material from railcars, faster

Loram’s WagonVac is a powerful, productivity enhancer that quickly cleans and extracts excess material from the bottom of railcars and wagon hoppers using powerful vacuum force. Compared to manual cleaning processes, the WagonVac has shown that it can be 20 times more productive, reduce difficult manual labor and costs, and return clean rail cars to revenue service much faster.

The wayside-mounted WagonVac loads up to 38 cubic meters of material per hour from a stationary position, both enhancing productivity and increasing the safety of the single operator from within the unit’s enclosed cab. Stationary operation of the WagonVac provides seamless indexing from car-to-car as each is quickly cleaned, offers maximum power and airflow, and reduces the cost of track undercarriage associated with less powerful mobile units.
