The Project
A railway station has been present at Low Moor since 1848 to serve the villages of Low Moor and Oakenshaw in the Calder Valley, Bradford (UK).
Renovations and upgrades commenced in 2015 and the £10.8M project re-opened in April 2017.
The station facilities include 128 car parking spaces for the accessible platforms.
The Brief
Surface drainage was required for the station platforms.
The channel system was required to have a non-corrosive grating as foot traffic was minimal and oxidation could occur on non-treated ductile iron gratings.
Gratings also required a ‘HeelSafe’ slot width for this public area.
The Solution
Colin Taff, Regional Manager of HAURATON, proposed the RECYFIX PRO surface drainage system in corrosion resistant recycled polypropylene composite.
This provided the perfect combination of aesthetics, durability and performance.
The RECYFIX range of products is approved by Network Rail (UK).
RECYFIX PRO System Benefits
With a load rating up to D 400, RECYFIX PRO brought the following benefits to the project:
- Pre-assembled, lightweight and compact channel units for quick and easy installation on site.
- Channel body in modified Polypropylene (PP) composite for high impact and corrosion resistance.
- Composite edge-frame formed as an integral part of the channel body structure, for enhanced rigidity and aesthetics.
- Highly durable non-corrosive FIBRETEC composite gratings, resistant to salts and UV light.
- Gratings mechanically fixed to the channel edge-frame (2 bars and bolts per metre) for total security.
RECYFIX PRO combined benefits made installation a quick and simple task for the contractor, with the reassurance of long-term performance for the client.
