Ercon Composites Supplies Rescue Platform to Indian Railways
Ercon composites supplies 1 kilometre long FIBRE GLASS walk way as rescue platform to save lives of GANGMAN , the maintenance persons of the Railway track of Indian Railways.
Chief Bridge Design Engineer of Southern Railways approached ERCON COMPOSITES to design a 1 kilometre long fibre glass GRP walkway on bridge over River in southern india .
As there was risk to gangway man ie railway track maintenance person’s life when they are performing daily checking of tracks for any faults.
Ercon team took the challenge and designed and tested and supplied the complete system comprising of fibreglass support brackets , gratings and Handrails all non metallic and high strength .
The structure was load tested for 1000 kg load on 2 supports at 1.5 m span under witness by Railway user and Inspection team along structural head of university of Cochin and his team. Railways selected GRP Walkway structure due To its excellent corrosion resistant , high strength and faster deliveries with easy installation in difficult location of bridges.
The platform was well accepted and is in use now for past 4 years and repeat orders for more such bridges have been received.
