Premier Rail Services was formed in 1997. In November 2019 Premier Rail Services was purchased by Trackwork Ltd, a Doncaster based railway engineering company specialising in the manufacture of track materials and providing installation and maintenance services on the permanent way.

We currently hold the framework with NWR for Level Crossing – Lift & Replace which we have held for many years around the UK averaging around 800 level crossings and Road Rail Access Points (RRAP) a year. In addition, we are currently completing Level Crossing upgrades for Network Rail (Special Projects). We also have ongoing contracts with many other valued clients.

We are highly recommended and approved installers for Polysafe, Rosehill & Strail crossing systems.

Our Staff are full time employed and are trained to the highest standard on crossings and RRAP’s. Our workforce have all been trained to the required Network Rail Standards for inspections & installations to TRK37.

Premier Rail Services have a long history of level crossing and Road Rail Access Point remove and replace contracting where having a mix of short term and longer-term projects is the norm so the ability to be able to mobilise projects quickly and effectively is very much business as usual. Additionally, as Premier Rail Services is very much a self-delivery organisation where very little is sub-contracted, we have direct control over our management, labour and plant resources which enables us to move these resources to respond to work that needs to be mobilised quickly and ensure that we have individuals with the right competencies. Likewise, we are not dependant on the availability of sub-contractors to be able to deliver.

Within the first quarter of this year alone we have removed and reinstalled crossings for engineering works (typically tamping or re-railing) on 200 plus occasions. We have installed 100 plus temporary RRAP’s from Timber to Strail / Rosehill. We have also within the last six months upgraded multiple level crossings including all Tarmac approach works and the reinstatement of road markings in conjunction with the Principal Contractor and the manufacturer.

We are regularly asked to go to investigation sites to lift crossings to determine the track components within the crossing and produce comprehensive reports to allow the client and product supplier to order and supply the correct products. We are currently carrying out inspection works on various sites associated with the Special Projects team for Network Rail. The inspection works are then followed by Premier Rail Services upgrading the crossings as required.

Premier Rail Services is the largest stockist of Temporary & Semi-Permanent RRAP’s in the UK as well as other specialist hire equipment. We carry a comprehensive stock of spares and fittings to suit Polysafe, Rosehill and Strail crossings and all associated ancillaries including Tarmac, white lining products, concrete beams, Steel T sections, various timbers plus many more.
