Analogue and Digital Speed Indicators

Description
Specifications

Speed indicators play a crucial role in rail vehicle safety and reliability. HaslerRail has been producing speed indicators and data recording systems since 1887, with tens of thousands of devices and systems in use worldwide.

Features / Benefits

  • Modular architecture for flexibility
  • Configurable speed signal (current/voltage, RS485)
  • Suitable for SIL2 speed indication
  • Manual or external illumination control
  • Automatic day/night illumination
  • Maintenance free

The HaslerRail SPEEDO circular-scale speed indicator is a robust device with an extended range of features designed for installation in the cab. It is suitable for main-line locomotives, high-speed trains, suburban units, metro cars, and mountain railways. It offers highly reliable speed indication and warns the driver in the even of a speed indicator fault.

The speed indicator is controlled by a step motor and an electronic control system that converts the actual speed input signal to drive the step motor. Pointer position is checked by a feedback-encoder system that constantly compares the input signal to the feedback signal. The feedback signal is also available via an analog output to compare the actual speed signal outside the speed indicator with the pointer feedback.

The speed indicator is also equipped with a light ring for set or target speed indication. In addition, there are four status-indicator lights in the center of the dial. Optionally, the speed indicator can be supplied with a red/white fault-indicator flag and/or an LCD information display.
